On the 5th Day of Christmas, My Library Gave to Me...

5 Lord of the Rings!

Often, when searching for an item, you'll find numerous items and variations within the system. The Lord of the Rings is a prime example of this. There are movies, soundtracks, video games, audiobooks, e-books, and physical books, all related to the One Ring. Discover the five different ways you can experience The Lord of the Rings at your library!

Movies

Whether you prefer to watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy all at once with a binge box or one movie at a time, we've got you covered! We even have the Veggie Tales version, if you so desire.

DVDs on a wooden shelf: VeggieTales "Lord of the Beans" case with animated veggies, and multiple "Lord of the Rings" titles. Labels visible.

Books

What better way to embark on the journey to destroy the One Ring than by reading the original version of the story. You can also explore how the movies were created, admire some stunning artwork, or delve into the life of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Stack of J.R.R. Tolkien books on a brown chair: "The Lord of the Rings," "The Fall of Gondolin," "Beren and Lúthien," "The Children of Húrin." An open colorful illustrated book lies in front.

Video Games

Or maybe you want to try your hand at surviving Middle-Earth? The library can provide you with the experience through video games on several different systems.

PS4 "Shadow of Mordor" game case stands on Xbox One cases in a wooden shelf. Titles include "Shadow of War" and "War in the North."

E-Books & Audiobooks

A smartphone with an audiobook app leans against a monitor showing Tolkien's "A Long-expected Party" text, set in an office environment.

Want to explore Middle-Earth without a physical book? Worried about carrying it while traveling? Don't worry! With your library barcode and password, you can access e-books and audiobooks on your device. This is perfect for traveling, decluttering after the holidays, or doing a deep clean. Simply download the hoopla, cloudLibrary, or Libby app on your device to check out an e-book or audiobook and head deep into Middle-Earth.

Music

If you need background music, consider playing a soundtrack! You can use your device to listen to soundtracks or go old school and try a CD.

Three "Lord of the Rings" soundtrack CDs on a wooden surface, showing covers with characters and titles: "The Fellowship," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King."

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."
