Summer is one of our favorite times of year at the library. Things seem livelier, and there are always so many people coming through the front doors! It’s our busiest season, and a lot of that has to do with Summer Reading! Summer Reading always brings so many wonderful things with it: a huge variety of programs to keep us busy, the challenge of finishing your reading log, and incredible prizes to win!
Each year, Summer Reading has a theme that ties everything together, and this year’s is Find Your Voice. We’re so excited to have programs to help you explore different ways to discover more about yourself through art, music, role-playing, physical wellness, and more. We’ll be hosting family yoga on the lawn, teen Dungeons & Dragons sessions, and lots of opportunities for folks to get musical – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! To celebrate another amazing summer, we’ll also have a Summer Reading Celebration on July 22nd. Performer Dino O’Dell will share songs and stories from around the world, and the Friends of the Library will provide a pizza lunch after the show! Make sure not to forget about the “reading” part of Summer Reading too! We welcome people of all ages to read with us this summer, no matter what their reading level is. You might be wondering if you have to get all of your summer reading materials from the library, and the answer is no! You can read anything to fill in your reading log! Books, ebooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, manga, magazines, newspapers, and even the back of a cereal box all count! As long as you’re actively reading, it counts!
Of course, we also have a fantastic line-up of grand prizes you can win this year! With grand prizes like a Ninja Creami, a Nintendo Switch Lite, retro toys, and more there’s truly something for everyone! The more you read, the more chances you’ll have to win one of our grand prize raffles!
If you want to be a part of Summer Reading, we want to see you in the library! Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, not just kids. It’s completely open to all ages from birth through adults, and the best part is that it’s completely free. Just come in to the library and talk to a staff member to get started! Sign up any time between June 1 and July 31! We can’t wait to see you!
