Last month, we guided you on how to reach out to your federal and state elected officials. Today, we'll explore how to contact your local elected officials for your county, township, and village/city. Here are four simple steps to identify and locate their contact information.

Step 1: Find Your District and Precinct/Township

Which county township and district am I located in? How can I discover this information? We've got you covered!

You can find this information on the DeWitt County Government website. There, you'll find the DeWitt County District Map where you can zoom in on your address, click on it, and see your precinct/township and district to the right.

Select the district map. Zoom in and locate your address.

Here we are looking at the library's address. Although I can't click on the library itself, I can select the house across the street to determine the precinct/township and district of the library by looking at the information in the bar on the left side of the screen. The library is in the Clintonia 3 Precinct/Township and District D.

Step 2: Find Your Elected County Board Members

and Township Representative

Webpage titled "County Board" listing board members, districts, contact info, and roles. Background features a sunset over a field.

Once you know your precinct/township and district, you can jump over to the DeWitt County Board Website and find your county board members' contact information. This site provides information on the county board members representing your precinct/township and district, including their phone numbers (if available), email addresses, and the committees they serve on.

Step 3: Find Your Township Elected Officials

Every DeWitt County Township is governed by its own officials, including the supervisor, township clerk, highway commissioner, township assessor, and trustees. Although this information is not accessible online, you can obtain a complete and updated list of DeWitt county township officials by reaching out to the DeWitt County Clerk's Office or clicking the link below.

Step 4: Find Your Village/ City Elected Officials

Webpage of DeWitt County, Illinois shows a sunset over a field. Menu links to "Towns And Villages" and related links are listed.

For village/city elected officials, you can go to the Towns and Villages section of DeWitt County Board page to find information on the City of Clinton, City of Farmers City, Village of Wapella, Village of Waynesville, and Village of Weldon. While Deland, DeWitt, Kenney, and Lane are in DeWitt county, they do not have village websites. Follow the link below for a complete list of village/city elected officials.

Be aware that this information may change

following each election.

The details and lists given above are correct

as of 4/23/2025.
