The Library offers The Revere Ware Room, The Activity Room, The Board Room/Museum, and two small study rooms.  The Library welcomes the use of its meeting rooms by individuals or organizations for informational, educational, cultural, civic and social events. Unfortunately, children's parties will not be scheduled in any of the rooms at this time.

By reserving a room, meeting room users agree to the Meeting Room Terms of Use.   Please read this document before moving forward with a room reservation.

The Revere Ware Room

The Revere Ware Room is located on the Lower Level and accommodates up to 150 people and offers an attached kitchen for catering.  The fee during open hours is $15 per hour.  VWPLD opens at 9 AM Monday – Saturday. Any group wishing to enter the building before that time must pay the closed hours rate until 9 AM. The earliest any group can enter the building is 8 AM. All event participants must be out of the meeting rooms fifteen minutes prior to library closing time (Monday-Thursday 7 PM, Friday 4 PM, and Saturday 1 PM) or must pay closed hours rate.  The fee for the Revere Room on Sundays or holidays is $100 for the day. You can reserve a room by calling 217-935-5174,  or by emailing Kyle at taylor@vwarner.org.

 

 

The Activity Room - UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME

The Activity Room is located on the Children's Floor and accommodates up to 60 people.  This meeting room can only be reserved during the hours the Library is open (Monday- Thursday 9AM-7 PM, Friday 9AM-4PM, Saturday 9AM-1PM). All participants must be out of The Activity Room fifteen minutes prior to Library closing time.  The fee is $5 per hour.

The Board Room/Museum - UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME

The Board Room/Museum is located on the Children's Floor and accommodates 12 people at the table.  This meeting room may be reserved for organizational meetings of non-profit groups for free during the hours the Library is open (Monday- Thursday 9AM-7 PM, Friday 9AM-4PM, Saturday 9AM-1PM).  All participants must be out of The Museum fifteen minutes prior to Library closing time. The Museum may be reserved for after-hours special events for $400 for ten hours. Reservation requires a $100 deposit. You can reserve a room by calling 217-935-5174,  or by emailing Kyle at taylor@vwarner.org.

 

 

Study Rooms

Study Rooms are located on the Children's Floor and can each accommodate 6 people.  These meeting rooms may be reserved during the hours the Library is open (Monday- Thursday 9AM-7PM, Friday 9AM-4PM, Saturday 9AM-1PM). All participants must be out of the study rooms fifteen minutes prior to Library closing time.  There are no fees, but pre-booking is highly recommended.

Please Note:

Patrons with delinquent accounts may not rent any of the rooms until their accounts are cleared.

The Library will charge a $800.00 fee for lost or stolen keys. The person who rented the room must pay $800.00 to cover the cost of having the building re-keyed and replacing all the keys. The $800.00 will NOT be refunded if the key is located after the building is re-keyed.

Displays At The Library

Current Displays

The Vespasian Warner Public Library hosts artwork produced by local artists year round and showcases local history displays & artifacts.

"Community Display - Weldon Springs Foundation"

​

Located on the Lower Level, the Community Display is changed quarterly to highlight a new community partner.  This quarter features The Weldon Springs Foundation.  The Foundation has assembled several mini displays to feature all that Weldon Springs and The Weldon Springs Foundation has to offer.  You may view this display during open library hours.

 

 

"Abraham Lincoln Memorabilia"

​

Featuring items from the library's archive collection, this display focuses on Abraham Lincoln.  Everything from Lincoln penny paper weights and Lincoln Bandages to a piece of brick from Lincoln's home in Springfield and miniature log cabins are featured.

"Made in DeWitt County"

​

Ashtrays, fancy decorated eggs, paintings, and ammunition shells are just a few of the library's archive items that are featured in this Made in DeWitt County display.  Located in the Audio/Visual Room on the Main floor, this display is available for viewing during open library hours.

​

"The Schaefer/Miles Art Collection"

​

Donated by Marsha Cornthwaite in memory of her late husband, Mark, "The Schaefer/Miles Art Collection" is a display of oil paintings created by Kevin Miles & Wendy Schaefer-Miles from Whitehall, WI.    Schaefer/Miles paint in a Neo Impressionistic Realism style and the collaborative husband and wife team have been painting side by side together for over 30 years.  Their paintings can be found throughout the Main Floor and Lobby.

"Clinton Sculptors"

​

Dr. Charles W. Carter, a local physician and surgeon who practiced in Clinton during the first half of the twentieth century.

​

Dr. Moses Stewart was a dentist in Clinton who is now buried in Woodland Cemetery.  He used his dental tools to sculpt animals & farm equipment from hardwood.  Dr. Stewart aspired to be an artist, but his mother insisted that he study medicine instead.  Dr. Stewart's sculptures are currently displayed above the movies in the Periodicals Room on the main floor.  To learn more about Dr. Stewart & Dr. Charles & their work, check out this Tales From The Archives!

Friends Book Shop

Friends Book Shop

The Friends of The Library sell gently used books, DVD/Blu-rays, Audiobooks, & CDs.  The Friends continually stock the Friends Book Shop located in the Lobby of the library.  The Friends of the Library also host 2 large book sales each year, one in the Spring & again in the Fall.  All proceeds from the Friends Book Shops benefit the library by helping to fund special programs and/or supplies for the library.  Past funding has helped with Summer Reading & the Seed Library.

Interested in volunteering in the Friends of the Library organization?  The Friends of the Library meet on the first Saturday of every month at 10AM in the Museum Room on the Children's Floor of the library.  No dues are required.

​
